Munyamadzi Game Reserve, a completely wild and un-fenced hunting area that lies along the Luangwa River. The camp is very comfortable and beautiful, located on the shore of the Luangwa. While it is not typical to have such good plainsgame hunting in an area that boasts such healthy numbers of dangerous game like Buffalo, Hippo Croc, Lion and Leopard, the hunting for both dangerous game and plainsgame on Munyamadzi is exceptional.

Zambia has temporarily closed Lion and Leopard hunting. All indications are that the hunting of cats should resume for 2014, but until the official word comes from the Game Department, Munyamadzi will not offer any Lion or Leopard hunts. Munyamadzi has been issued quota for Buffalo, Hippo, Croc, Roan and the other common plainsgame animals and is hunting this year.

It is true big game country with good populations of buffalo, lion, leopard and elephant as well as a variety of plains game species including Roan, Kudu, Bushbuck and Puku among others. Munyamadzi main camp is on the banks of the Luangwa River with a beautiful view of the southern tail end of the Muchinga Escarpment. The terrain on Munyamadzi varies from hills in the back covered with miombo woodland, going down to the valley floor which consists of mainly Mopani woodland, down to big riverine thickets and floodplains. This large variety of vegetation makes a perfect habitat for lion and leopard which are abundant in the area.

The camp is of high standard fully staffed with cooks, waiters, attendants, gardener and skinners. Meals are made to your likes with three courses every evening. You have a choice to stay in one of the brick rondavels or a raised deck chalet. Both have en suite flush toilets and hot running water.

General Manager and head Professional Hunter Thor Kirchner was trained by some of the finest professional hunters in Zambia. He has been in the Zambian hunting industry for over 5 years. Thor is a resident Zambian and grew up in the Lower Luangwa valley and has known the area intimately since he was a child. Thor speaks English, Danish, German and the local language “Nsenga” fluently. Thor is also registered as Honorary Wildlife Police Officer with the Zambian Wildlife Authority.
